Theatre on the Lake is a One-Act Play Festival that takes place on Frame Lake behind the Prince of Wales Heritage Centre in Yellowknife. 

This summer’s run will be from Wednesday July 25 to Saturday July 28, 2012.  Details:

  • Wed-Fri:  Shows at 12:10pm and 7:00pm
  • Saturday: Noon
  • Brown bag lunches welcomed
  • Bag lunches for purchase available for weekday noon show
  • Admission charge: by donation
  • Bring sunscreen and a blanket to sit on
  • In case of rain show will be moved indoors to  the auditorium

Five plays featured for the 2012 event:

A Comedy of Errors:  A modern language adaptation of Shakespeare’s tale of twin brothers and their twin servants, separated 20 years ago but ending up in the same city.

Call of the Revolution: On the eve of a revolution, two women must decide: do they fly or do they fight!?!

27 Flavours of her Kiss:  From Cardamom Avenue to Daydream Apple-Blossom to Numb, you are taken on a delicious romantic journey navigated through the most perfect of pastimes – kissing.

Commedia dell’Arte – Pantelone and the Blender Mishap:  It’s Valentine’s Day and Arlecchino is willing to go to extremes to win the heart of Columbine. Pantelone fearfully avoids his sex-crazed wife La Signora, while his daughter Isabella becomes a hot commodity on the local dating scene.

Much Ado About Dumping: In a Shakespearian-esk spoof, the Mayor of Yellowknife is poised to retire but learns something terrible about the upcoming October election
